LANGUAGE - Level I - German, Italian, Spanish:
(Required - Grade 8, 9, 10, 11, 12 - one year course) The foundations of world language studies are established in the first year. Skills in listening, speaking, reading and writing are developed through simple basic conversations, grammatical structures, vocabulary building, readings and dialogues. Cultural activities foster an understanding and an appreciation of other peoples' customs, history, literature and language. Whenever applicable, career opportunities in languages are explored

LANGUAGE - Level II - German, Italian, Spanish:
(Required - Grade 10, 11, 12- one year course) The second year of world language studies is a continuing program in which the four basic skills are stressed. The instructional areas in conversations, grammatical structures and selected readings become more complex and diversified. Upon successful completion of a two-year language program, the student will have developed sufficient skills to utilize the language in simple situations. Cultural enrichment is continued through a variety of instructional media. Whenever applicable, career opportunities are explored.

LANGUAGE - Level III - German, Italian, Spanish:
(Elective Grade 11, 12 - one-year course) The skills developed during a two-year language program are reviewed and implemented in the various literary selections of the writers of the country. Stress is placed on discussions and original compositions, which are based on the instructional materials covered in class. Cultural activities are an outgrowth of concepts in the literary selections. Career opportunities are explored.

LANGUAGE - Level IV - German, Italian, Spanish – Honors:
(Elective - Grade 12 - one year course) The skills developed during a three-year language program are reviewed and intensified in this course. Stress is placed on oral and written expression. Representative literary works are read in the languages. Career opportunities are explored.

LANGUAGE - Level V AP - Spanish - Advance Placement:
(Elective - Grade 12 - one year course) An advanced course for students who wish to pursue college level studies while still in secondary school. Emphasis is placed on writing and conversation and focuses on aural/oral skills, reading comprehension, grammar and composition. The course emphasizes the use of Spanish for active communication. The AP test is a course requirement.

CULTURE AND CONVERSATION I - Italian, Spanish:
(Elective -Grade 10, 11 - one-year course) The beginning of a sequential, two-year study of a language, this course will enable students to use language in meaningful contexts. Communication and the emphasis on the interrelation between languages and the culture of the country will be the primary focal points.

CULTURE AND CONVERSATION II:
(Italian, Spanish - Elective - Grade 10, 11 - one-year course) The conclusion of a sequential, two-year study of a language, this course will enable the students to further use language in meaningful contexts. The primary focal points will continue to be communication and knowledge of country's heritage and traditions.
