The Academic competition Team may compete in the following tournaments for the 2004-2005 school year:
BATE IX
- an all day event held on a Saturday at Bloomfield High School in which all teams are guaranteed three rounds of play. These rounds of play test the students' knowledge in a variety of subjects and genres such as: literature, history, geography, math, science, music, art and mythology. Each team consists of four players with substitutions allowed at designated intervals. Following the first three rounds, there are quarter and semifinal rounds in which the top-ranked teams participate. Students compete for a $500 scholarship and trophies.
JETS-TEAMS

The problems and questions posed are similar to those faced by students in college freshman level engineering fundamentals. Teams work in an open-book, open-note, open discussion format. Part l consists of objective, multiple-choice questions, group effort with open-books and self-contained calculators permitted. Part 2 consists of subjective, open-ended engineering problems which are an extension of some of the problems posed in part 1.
National Science Olympiad
- is organized and operated under the auspices of the Continental Mathematics League which also sponsors the National Social Studies Olympiad and the National Language Arts Olympiad. The contest tests the sciences through a series of multiple choice exams. The questions emphasize factual knowledge as well as students' understanding of scientific processes.
